Broccoli Pizza & Pasta - a Franchisee led Relationship


  • 2010:Broccoli's name came from school children. Yes, that's right. We asked a large number of Emirati children which vegetables the saw as healthy, nutritious and, believe it or not, fun. The response was an overwhelming majority and here we are today.


  • 2010. Before Broccoli became a franchise model, we opened intending to serve families with a menu consisting of fresh, delicious and affordable food in an environment that allowed the guest to create their own, personalised meal. The aim was to do so quickly.


  • We required a system that would allow us to cook our menu offerings to order yet in as a time-effective manner as possible whilst still maintaining a key-focus on our guests. So we set to work and ran trial after trial to get the system as efficient as possible. We had fresh portions of pasta - from order to ready - in 6 minutes and our Pizza's to 8 minutes. We were ready! Now the question was where to open for trade?


  • 2011, Tecom - Dubai. We managed to find a great corner unit within a district made up of families, hotels and multiple commercial office spaces. Almost unexpectedly but not completely surprisingly, we found ourselves catering for the entire local community from children to the elderly, single diners to families. We were a hit! We even had the local law enforcement stopping by for lunch.


  • 2012/13. Our demand grew and as such, so did our operation. Delivery was added, we added a park and order service, due to the location we became a 24-hour outlet and then came expansion. We opened our second and third outlets.


  • 2014. The year we became a franchise. We received several inquiries and dismissed them all, yet they kept coming and coming. Truth be told, we were concerned about franchising Broccoli. We loved our creation and wanted to ensure consistency would always remain, but we also wanted to see Broccoli Pizza & Pasta service communities all over the UAE, not just Dubai (little did we know then we were soon to become an international brand!). So we set to work, reminiscent of 2010, we diligently planned how we could simplify the operation, ensure all who join would have a platform of support, and a structure in place to always place the brands' reputation first. We recruited, promoted and invested heavily until we felt the balance was correct. We began, and quite simply, the response was overwhelming - and also flattering!


  • 2015. This year we saw our Broccoli units begin to open up all over the 7 Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Broccoli was now becoming a household name throughout the middle-east and as such, we reinvested once again ensuring the growth was equally balanced by support.


  • 2016. This was a special year, we had multiple franchisees who had joined us in 2014 open their second and third outlets. For a franchisor, there is no greater satisfaction.


  • 2017. We were now an international brand, operating in Europe, Asia and throughout the middle-east. We reinvested once again, establishing support networks in London, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Oman and began plans to establish an Asian based HQ.


  • 2017/18/19. The brand has gone from strength to strength and we're today operating in 10 countries, with close to 150 outlets! We also installed an HQ in India.


  • 2020. Reflecting on the past century brings with it a sense of pride that Broccoli Pizza & Pasta is now serving quality foods at affordable prices to thousands of guests daily. The turn of the new century brings with it lots of optimism and prospects. We've always been a customer-first, hospitality led organisation - and this shall never change. Being able to cater to our guests and also provide a successful business model for first-time business owners becoming Broccoli Pizza & Pasta franchisees is just as rewarding. This involves two weeks of intensive training, both in the classroom and in the restaurant, where you will be taught all aspects of how to run your own business and operate a highly successful restaurant.
